See the reef the best way – up close and personal – by diving right in. No experience necessary!
We specialise in introducing first timers to the wonders of the underwater world – even if they’re nervous. The dive can be hand-held if you prefer – or offer you the freedom to swim alongside the group if you’re feeling more adventurous. The depth will vary from 1 metre to 12 metres, depending entirely on your comfort level.
The Heart Pontoon at Hardy Reef has been designed with first-time divers in mind, with a swimming pool-like area to start the dive. Here you can stand up in waist-deep water and get used to breathing underwater before embarking on your reef adventure! Ages 10+, medical conditions apply.
A terrific dive for new and experienced divers alike
Luxury treatment is what you’ll get aboard Seaflight and at the Heart Pontoon.
Hardy Reef is a beautiful reef with an abundance of pristine corals. Our experienced Dive Masters will guide you in a small group of no more than 4-5 divers around some of our favourite parts of the reef.
While you’re there you’ll have time to do two dives so even if you go for a day trip with family the diving isn’t going to interrupt your day out.
Our focus as a company is always on nice slow dives with lots of interpretation of marine life. We think even the most knowledgeable diver will learn something.
Whilst out at Cruise Whitsundays Heart Pontoon, activities such as snorkelling and travelling on the Semi-submersible are free, but if you are interested in trying something different, and/or learning more about the Great Barrier Reef, or maybe you have never snorkelled before – we have a few activities that might interest you!
Snorkel Safari
Discover the reef in the most fun way
Discover the reef and its wonders by getting up close and personal. We take small groups (of up to five people) and show them our favourite parts of Hardy Reef.
During the 30 minute “Snorkel Safari” you’ll learn how the reef was formed, how coral feeds, grows and breeds as well as seeing some very special inhabitants – from parrotfish to magnificent anemones, cleaner wrasse and of course, anemonefish (nemo!).
If you’re new to snorkelling, then a snorkel safari is also a terrific way to ease a few of those first-time nerves. Our guide will be in the water with you the whole time, holding your hand if need be. On the other hand, if you’re a confident snorkeller, then you’ll find that the more you learn about the reef, the more fascinating everything you see becomes.
Want to take your diving to the next level and become certified? Kuata is the perfect place to hang out whilst completing your Open Water Course with our SSI qualified instructors.
From easy coral reef dives to the extraordinary bull shark dive we think we have an excellent choice of dives. Throw in some caves, walls, pinnacles and night dives and your options are unlimited.
Take the next step – become an advanced diver. Our advanced level course will expose you to a variety of diving to increase your confidence and skill level.
Some of the conservation work we do requires more time than a casual visitor to be involved with. There are however some projects that will benefit greatly from having guests involved.
We have two ship wrecks that sit just a 10 minute boat ride south of Barefoot Manta with a maximum depth of 24m, & the other 10 minutes to the west of Barefoot Manta at a depth of 32 m.
The marine experience is a tourism programme designed for people to work alongside our marine biology department & learn more about coral reefs while doing great things for the environment.
